My Story

I have owned and operated a sailboat for over 40 years. Family sailing journeys on the Great Lakes and salt water are still rewarding and fun. However, boat-bottom maintenance is a thorn in any boat-owner's side. After many years of scraping, sanding, and painting both ablative and hard marine coatings, I started testing various chemical mixtures that would make anti-fouling products environmentally safe, easy to apply, with as few health hazards as possible, while providing the best possible anti-fouling protection for the design.

BoatKoat Laminates was established in 2004. The development and production of the BKL coating was aided by a back-ground in materials management and with input from family and supply partners. After years of testing and meeting government requirements, I and the BoatKoat Laminates’ team are proud to present the BKL product to the marine boating and construction industries.
