My Story

I have owned and operated a sailboat for over 40 years. Family sailing journeys on the Great Lakes and salt water are still rewarding and fun. However, boat-bottom maintenance is the furthest from being fun. Enduring many years of scraping, sanding, and painting both ablative and hard marine coatings, I started testing various products that would make boat-bottom preparation environmentally safe, easy to apply, and with as few health hazards as possible.

BoatKoat Laminates was established in 2004 aided by a back-ground in materials management, with input from family and supply partners. After years of testing and meeting government requirements, I and the BoatKoat Laminates’ team are proud to present the BKL anti-fouling product to the marine industry.
